Me-Vid evaluation

ME-VID EVALUATION

Pre-Production
I first had to make my script which was a plan so i knew what i was going to have in my me-vid we had to have at least 80 shots of our hobbies and interests. i learnt the best way to layout a shooting scrip so in the future i now know what I'm doing. It was good that i used a shooting script because if i forgot to film anything i could look at my script and i would know what to film. its good because its a good way to keep organised to what order your going to put the shots in.

What i did from my scrip is at the start of my video i have me introducing my self and the next shot was me saying what I'm going to be showing the video and then i had my graphics covering the bottom of the screen with it saying what I'm going to include as it says in my shooting script. the program i used to make my graphic was live type it was easy to use once i knew where everything was. the program i used to make my me-vid was final cut express.

Production Skills
In some of my shots i had to shorten with the razor tool and some short i had to crop because the video had to be at least 3 minuets so i cut down a lot of my shots. i couldn't use all the rooms i wanted because at the time either my family were round or something was going on so i would use my room or my brothers room tried to use most of my shots i recorded but most had to be up to 2 to 3 seconds long so in my me vid i had a lot of jump cuts

I have learnt how to use a green screen which is one of the most things i wanted to learn because its really cool to have any background you want and be there when your actually not there for example i used a map from a game and i acted as if i was there in my green screen and i said that this is my best map and why i liked it.

i used some archive footage in my video which is shown as my interest which is fast and the furious and the TV show friends the reason i used these in my video is because they are my favourite things to watch in my spare to time. In the screen shot you can see my graphics that i used so i had it clear so it would stand out and people would find it easy to read and for them to understand it better.

What i found easy was the filming i like my filming because its one of the reason i love media. in final cut express because i had never used the program before i had to start fresh and to learn it was a bit confusing but at the end it became very easy and i would like to do it more in the future.
its fun and its something that fascinates me so that's why i like it the thing i found hard was the editing because i had to know what points i had to cut and if i wanted some points that i couldn't have it was a bit tricky but it was fun to learn and i would like to learn more like this later on.

How will the skills i have learnt help me when i do my music video production.
Every thing i have learnt over doing this project and past ones will help me because now i know how to make a shooting script and plan before hand it will be much easier then just doing it off the top of my head and improvising so i think for the next production i do i will be prepared for it.

Edit workshop intro

My video will be Connor walking into the room and with me sitting down and then he sits down then having a conversation about foot ball where Connor will ask me some questions. we will use body language to make it look effective then Connor will ask me if i want to go to the canteen and i say OK lets go.i am going to have the 180 degree rule and match on action and the rules of 3rd s in my production and i explain a more about the techniques below.

i am going to have the camera technique 180 degree rule when i am having a conversation and it will be on the same side the whole way through so that the 180 degree will apply. i will also have the rule when i am leaving the classroom.

i am going to have the camera technique match on action when were opening the door so we will have Connor opening the door at a certain point and them continue at the same point and film it on the other side of the door or we can just edit it after we have filmed the whole thing.

i'm going to have the camera technique shot reverse shot when me and Connor will have the conversation it will first be over his shoulder showing my face and then after it will be over my shoulder and showing Connors face. what the plan is going to be is having Connor saying all of his questions in one go and then me saying all of my answers in one go then we will edit it afterwards.

I'm going to use the camera technique the rule of 3rd s pretty much the whole way through the production because when the camera is showing the face of the person there eyes have to be 3rd of the way down the screen to show the rule of 3rd s. and in our production we have the faces showing a lot in the movie.

we are going to edit where Connor opens the door and and to know when to do the rule match on action and i'm going to edit the beginning of the movie where we have the pan. i am also going to edit the conversation where we had Connor saying all the questions and me saying all the answers and then edit them in order so his question then my answer the reason we had one that is because it has made it a lot easier and it wont take a long time because one of us could have forgot the line and had to start over again.

Media evaluation

I used the rule of 3rds in my video when we had the conversation that when he had our eyes 3rd of the way down the screen. When we shot the conversation we had used the 180 degree rule because were where on the same side. We also used match on action when he entered the room we used match on action there because we had him opening the door and starting at the same point of the other side of the door.
I would maybe change the location and the wording because we could have spoken about something else and maybe the room we done it in was boring. Because all that was there was a table and a white wall. We will be able to do better camera work and change the storyboard and make it a better because the one we had done was very basic and could have had more work on it. It was a good video but kind of rushed.
The challenge I faced while in the production was the conversation part trying to keep a straight face and not to laugh but after a few takes I had remembered my lines and just got on with it I think I’m going to work on being in front of the camera.
I think what I came up with was very simple 1 person comes in and talks to the person that’s already sitting down and they start a conversation and then walk out. I think my strength is editing and using the actual camera to film I feel very comfortable with these two things and I feel like they are my strengths when it comes to media.
The weakness of my ability are being in front of the camera because I get shy and I start to fall over my words and that’s not good because it takes me longer to film so I have to start working to not be shy in front of cameras.

I would like to improve on all my strengths and weakness because now I’m going to start to do harder topics I need to get better with my work if I want to go far with media so what I want to improve is on everything because I need to start learning new things so I can do better with my over projects such as making more videos and other productions.

Film:
I watched how to train your dragon the movie is about a  hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself the thing i love most about this movie is how he learns about them and try s to show the village how the dragons are so harmless he try s to convince his dad who's the leader of the village and who thinks that his son is a fail because he's not proper Viking so he's try s to keep him hidden but then he do sent relies what his son can do. I like the action in the movie is good because its an animated movie so they can make the action look amazing because its not real so i really enjoyed this movie and everything about it.

Song:
Justin timberlake Suite and Tie
The reason I love this song is because I can listen to this over and over again because it kind of puts me into a happy place when I listen to it I normal like his songs but by far I like this one the most mainly because this is different to his others I also like the lyrics a lot as well because its unusual its about a suite and tie but its my favourite song and I listen to it pretty much every day Justin timberlake is my favourite artist but this song is his best in my opinion.

TV/radio programme:
I watched friends and the thing i like most about it is that its funny and i can watch the sane episode again because there's something about the series that never gets boring. friends is about 6 friends Monica has a brother which is Ross an her best friend Rachel and her ex room-mate phoebe and her neighbours joey and chandler they all have jobs and they always hang around in this place called the coffee house and then they talk about what they did and they are all humours and they are all entertaining in their own way but if i was to choose who i find the funniest i would have to pick Ross because of how he acts and they way he puts his point across and he's just really funny actor.

Website:

I like to go on the website twitch its a website where gamer play there games but also live stream which is basically where your playing a game and you are playing it live and other people can join you and watch you and talk to you and its a good way to meet other people and you can get sponsored by company s too if you get big on it and you also make money if people subscribe so the reason i love to go on it is because i like to watch my favourite you tuber and i watch him play the games live its good  because of how the community is friendly too and its a big site. you can build up and maybe even get famous on you tube if you start on twitch because your more likely to get noticed on twitch.
